D.A.R.E. stands for Drug Abuse Resistance Education and is taught by specially trained, uniformed police officers over a 10 week period to all Grade 6 students in Caledon. D.A.R.E. officers use interactive teaching strategies to equip youth with the knowledge, attitude and decision-making skills necessary to resist drug use and avoid violence. The benefits of the highly relevant information presented to our youth by the Ontario Provincial Police D.A.R.E. officers have been documented and are extremely valuable.
The D.A.R.E. program is totally funded by our community of supporters. We do not receive any Provincial grant money. We rely on fund-raising programs to raise the funds to keep the program alive.
Dare for the Kids is a group of social conscience minded individuals that want the best for our children in our community. Without their efforts and the communities generous support, we would not be able to deliver the program.
